Fort Lauderdale

Reached Ft. Lauderdale's Lake Sylvia anchorage at 4pm. Stopped at 15th street launch ramp docks to visit stores ashore. Ran 25 nm. 60sF and winds NW10 knts

The Lake Sylvia anchorage, as you can see, is fairly small and has homes all around and no place to go ashore unless you don't mind trespassing.

Lot of megayachts about. Here's one headed north. Notice the flag on the stern--its the country flag of the Republic of the Marshall Island in the Pacific. Boat's hailing port is Bikini Island. We've seen quite a few large yachts with this flag; guess there's additional financial or legal benefits to this registration over traditional ones such as the Cayman Islands.

Iguana sunning on one of the bridge fenders. We saw these creatures doing these at more than one location. And not the slightest bit moved when we came closer.

This is interesting sailing yacht. MITseaAH has a changeable aft underbody so it can motor at powerboat speeds up to 29 knots, and the mast is telescoping so it can go under selected bridges. My guess we're talking about the ones surrounding New York harbor and the East river.
