Plantation Key

PYHarbor marina is located in the larger Founder's Park in Islamorada
Picked up the anchor at 9am and headed 'down' the keys. While underway we wondered where the Jan & Steve on Jessie M were? We had loosely kept in touch after meeting them in Little Current last summer, and knew they were here in south Florida for the winter. Turns out they responded to a cell phone call and told us they were down in Islamorada. How convenient, just about a dozen miles away!

We pulled into Islamorada at Plantation Yacht Harbor Marina at noon after 15 nautical miles running at 4.8 knots. After visiting with Jan and Steve we headed over to a large annual nautical flea market underway the marina grounds. The afternoon went from bright sun to cloudy and rainy conditions with temperatures in the 70s and winds SE at 5 to 10 knots.
We've gone now 280 nautical miles and have put 61 hours on the Yamaha 150 for this trip.

Along the way we had a continuous 'parade' of high speed powercraft blasting by us--heading north and no doubt to the Miami metro area. Didn't seem to matter if we were in a broad sound or a winding cut in between, they seemed to maintain their insane speeds way to close to us and anyone else cruising within the marked channel.

A 'still' photo of them powering by.

Catamaran sailing north on a nice beam reach.
