Key Harbour to Parry Sound

Key Harbour to Parry Sound track.

We left Key Harbour at 7:40am in calm winds; arrived in Parry Sound at 2:55pm at Parry Sound Marine for a fuel fill up then moved over to Big Sound Marina for slip for the night. Big Sound had a handful of boat there and the marina was to be closing for the season in two days time.

Leaving Key Harbour to starboard. As with all of Georgian Bay, the coast line is chock full of bouldery masses above and below the water. Straying out of the channel you better go real slow and have good visibility.

A narrow passage to the right of "Cunningham's Paradise". We didn't this time, but perhaps it may have been good to announce over channel 16 we were approaching the narrows from the west--not a lot of room for two boats. Luckily all these narrow passages are slow speed zones and we saw few boats today anyway.

Tamara and James discussing our position and route thru Georgian Bay. There are sometimes several routes to go among these islands and also sometimes where you were looked like where you are going so it could be confusing to know where you are, even with a charplotter plotting your position!

The original Pointe Au Baril barrel marking the channel entrance.
